wrong hostnames

I have a Firewall Gold box 1.979/stable release.  I get alerts with device names on them that can't be right. For example, I'm getting alerts about port scanning allegedly by the iPhone of a guest that left three weeks ago when in fact I'm pretty sure that it's actually the PC of an Avast loving household member. The weather station is mis-labeled as Tina's-iphone. etc.

Is there a way to fix this without forgetting the affected devices?

  You can tap on devices, tap on the wrong device and then delete it. If it comes back, firewall will rediscover it.

  May I know if you are using any WiFi extenders (not AP or wifi mesh)

  I'm not using WiFi extenders. I have several TP Link access points though.

  The problem with deleting the devices all the time is that they wind up in the Quarantine group when they come back and my quarantine group is not a fun place for adults to be (early bedtime is enforced.)

  Let me create a ticket for you and see if our team can find out why the devices are getting the wrong names first.
