firewalla purple VPN server speed

I recently setup Wireguard VPN server on the firewalla purple.  I did a VPN speed test and I was getting 45-55 down and my upload is around 150-200.  Is this normal?  I would think the download should be higher.  Also, I did try VPN speed test connected within the LAN and I was getting 80-100 down and 250-300 upload.

Net speed service is ATT fiber 1Gb symmetrical.

    Are you doing the test via LTE or WiFi on  the client side? how fast is the WAN on the client side?

    WireGuard on the purple can reach 500mbits (raw performance)

    The client side test is on WiFi.  The WAN speed on the client side is 1GB.

    If you can try a ethernet connection first from the client side and rule out problems on the wifi side. It will likely get you much more accurate results

    I did a test on the client side with ethernet connection within my network connected to the VPN, ran a speed test and I got 84down and 643upload.

    My network is using wifi AC and doing wifi speed test I usually get around 600 down/up but what is bothering me is the difference between down and upload.

    The last ethernet test you did, how are you connecting and how are you running the test?

    Is it a PC -> Chrome -> [and what site did you use] --> VPN server ->[What is here]

    Or if you know the packet path will be good too.

    My network is the following:

    Modem(ATT fiber passthrough) ->Router mode Firewalla(VPN server)->Asus AP mode->PC.

    I ran the test within the same network PC->Connected to VPN server -> chrome(speedtest.net).

    I can test outside my network tomorrow, when I am at work.

    I did some speed test at my work.  I am getting speed on ethernet connection 900 up/down without connecting to my VPN server.  I am using speedtest.net  When I connect to my VPN server I am getting 643 down and 300 up.

    I also test wifi speed on my phone(speedtest app) without VPN, I am getting 450 down and 340 up.  Connected to my VPN I am getting 234 down and 183 up.

    Now I test on my phone connected to VPN and using the firewalla app VPN speed test, I am getting 55-65 down and 160-195 up.

    With these results is the firewalla app VPN speed test not accurate?

    Sounds like the only issue is Firewalla App build in VPN speed test reports low while you can get good internet speed in Gold local network with VPN on. Is it correct?

    What will you get if you test VPN speed on http://fire.walla:8833/ss/?

    I am not sure what you mean by "Gold local network".

    I did test the VPN on http://fire.walla:8833/ss/ when I was at work the results showed good symmetrical numbers but I forgot to write it down.  Will have to test it again tomorrow.  Local on my network with VPN testing on http://fire.walla:8833/ss/ I am getting around 470-520 down and 730-800 up and this is with ethernet connection.  On WiFi I am getting 90 down and 240 up.  I did a test also on speedtest.net with VPN and was getting around 270 down and 650 up.  There is still something strange because shouldn't the download speed be higher than the upload?

    So I tested the VPN server from connecting from my work via ethernet port with http://fire.walla:8833/ss/.  I am actually not getting good result.  On http://fire.walla:8833/ss/ I am getting 90-105 down and 780-800 up.  I tested again on speedtest.net and I am getting 480 down and 345 up.  I tested again on speedtest.net this time I change to multiple different server but in the same city, I am getting the same result as when I test on http://fire.walla:8833/ss/.  The strange thing only the EGI hosting on speedtest is where I get good up and down speed, all other I am getting around 20-50 down and 550+ up.
