Basic hardware setup

Looking for recommendations for a solid cybersecurity setup. I am having big problems with network security at home for my devices including phones, roku, tv and laptops. Would like a solid, fairly straight forward set up. Might be adding home assistant component. Willing to get any and all new internet or devices. Right now have eeros internet setup... Looking at firewalla purple, willing to goto gold. What kind of computer or laptop or minipc to run my network software on? Windows? Looking for something easy to lockdown. Prefer to Stay away from forced google profiles and accounts. What else do I need besides firewalla and a computer? Need to protect my home internet. Would like complete control if possible of network. I appreciate any ideas. I am at my wits end.

  So you can look at https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010465893-Guide-How-to-Choose-between-Different-Firewalla-Products to compare Gold vs Purple. One of the first things to look at is your internet speed. There are other differences, but if you have > 1Gbps you should look at Gold. If it is < 1Gbps you could look at Purple as well. 
  
  You should consider if you want to do network segmentation now (or in the near future) https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408644783123-Network-Segmentation
  That may impact several of your choices, especially for Wi-Fi and switches. 
  
  If a simple flat network is sufficient, you could use your eeros in bridge mode as described here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048543713-Firewalla-Tutorial-Using-your-existing-router-in-bridge-AP-mode-Gold-Purple#eero
  
  If you want segmentation, you should look at products like:

  • Orbi Pro
  • Aruba
  • Unifi

  Of these, Unifi and Aruba are a little more difficult to set up but have a lot more features.
