I am considering purchasing a Firewalla Gold. I currently have the following configuration: MODEM > MIKROTIK ROUTER > WIRED PCs + WIFI ROUTER (several wired PCs and the WiFi router plugged into the Mikrotik router). What is the recommended config for a Firewalla Gold? I was considering buying a Cisco managed switch for the following config: MODEM > FIREWALLA > CISCO SWITCH > WIFI ROUTER & WIRED DEVICES. I would configure the WiFi router for bridge mode. Would that work or is there a better way?

  This should work MODEM > FIREWALLA > CISCO SWITCH > WIFI ROUTER & WIRED DEVICES

  Your WiFi Router needs to be in bridge/AP mode.

  You would need a managed switch only if you plan to use VLANs to separate things like IOT devices from your phones and PCs. Otherwise, a simple, unmanaged switch will do the job and save you a few dollars.

  Personlly, I like the managed switch idea because I'm a nosy little so-and-so and want to know what makes those blinky lights so pretty.

  Plus it faciliates VLAN operation and helps me diagnose networking issues, besides other stuff.
