    Exploited,
Is there a reason you want your ISP to change your WAN address or is there some other problem? If the Firewalla isn’t getting an IP address from Xfinity, try removing power from both the Xfinity modem and the Firewalla, then powering both up together. Sometimes, the ISP doesn’t recognize a new router unless the modem is shut down.

The reason I want to change my public IP is do to a hacker. From my understanding once they get your public IP they can lock on pretty hard. So I figured being able to change it sometimes would help out.

I see. Your external address might change using the process of shutting both the modem and Firewalla off at the same time and restarting. Otherwise, the choice of that address is entirely up to your ISP and their procedures.

Just to be double sure, whatever box Xfinity has provided is NOT running router mode. Correct?

Right I had it in bridge mode. I contacted them about it. They said unplugging should reset or doing the command on PC. They say for user privacy they can't change the IP. And I have tried unplugging both but it would always be the same IP. The second I didn't use firewalla as the router then the IP changed as it should. Pretty strange I really liked having the firewalla in router modr

Have you tried turning off your modem for a longer period of time? I think the CMTS part may reset it. Another way is getting a new modem, that may work too, but will cost you.

@Firewalla Yes I have tried unplugging it for 6+ hours multiple times. So I believe I figured out the issue. It is because from my understanding Xfinity uses MAC address to delegate you WAN IP (public IP) So my question from here would be, with the newer feature that you added being able to change the mac on the WAN setting, would that in theory work for getting a new IP? Or should it work if Xfinity does indeed use MAC to assign IP?

We have no idea how xfinity maps their public IP; MAC address on the WAN side should be configurable, you can certainly give it a try.
