The Purple is already running a version of Ubuntu. There is no other ubuntu/debian out there that can run the drivers ...

It is, but from what I’ve seen it has all the Firewalla configurations (firewall rules, routing etc) by default and I’d like a clean Ubuntu system. Is that possible?

Why not just sell it? There’s a decent market put there. Out of curiosity, what can’t it do that you want?

I have a use for it if I could get a clean Ubuntu image. Is that possible? Can I flush it?

No you can't. We don't have a image without all the firewalla/drivers/software

From curiosity, does this apply also to x86 devices like the Gold, or principally to ARM devices like the Purple? I am looking down the road to when I will later need to upgrade for faster interfaces and thus have my Old Gold spare. .

x86 is much different than ARM processors. It is very easy to run standard linux or even windows on them. (ARM requires extensive BSP/drivers for each platforms, so it is not easy to make it magically boot everything like x86)

Thank you. As I expected, but good to check.
