Bandwidth Consumption Under Advanced Simple Mode
I have three VLANs at home and a Firewalla Gold. I am using Advanced Simple Mode to connect three VLANS from a dedicated switch port to the Gold box.
I just found something interesting by monitoring network bandwidth Gold has to process. I found Gold network traffic is actually twice as much as my actual network activity, using cockpit. For example performing a speed test on my device getting 300 mbps, on Gold I actually see 600 mbps, assuming this is counted as 300 mbps inbound to Gold and 300 mbps outbound to the device.
So my question is that, for the 3 Gbps DPI throughput, how is it counted? Can I assume that 3 Gbps is only for Gold inbound traffic?

When you are using simple mode (or advanced simple mode) the traffic will loop back from the same interface. So it depends on what tool you use and how you calculate. If you use interface counters, and measure in and out separately, it will be 600.
Firewalla 3Gbps is measure in routing traffic. For example, in your case, it will be 300mbit.
If you have the blue+/blue, then your tool will count 1000mbit (since your tool count in and out), and we say 500mbit. User will see 500mbit.
