VPN Traffic not displayed for Synology Disk Station

Hello, I have a Synology Disk Station where I have a VPN connection established to an external VPN service.   I understand that I won't be able to see what's going on with the connection, but shouldn't my FWG still see that the traffic is happening ?   When I look at the device, I don't see any network flows or traffic in the chart to indicate that any transfers are happening.   

Configuration:

FWG v 1.971 (router mode)

Synology Disk Station connected directly to FWG (ipv4)

VPN on Synology : KeepSolid (configured with OpenVPN profile)

  Likely you are running into a long-lasting connection.  Firewalla 1.971 and earlier will account for that when the connection ends.  1.972 will fix this behavior.

  For now, you can terminate that session, then you will see the amount of data flows.
