How are these devices connecting to the purple? if it is via another switch or AP, try to reboot them first.

    Hi Bob,

I have the same problem with a new FWG.

I have just over 30 devices connected, both wired and wireless and there are no problems with any device except my Windows 10 PC.

The disconnection can happen after a few hours or as quickly as 10 minutes, even when I'm using the PC however most times it's when the PC is not in use.

This occurred with the firewalla in a default DNS config and it made no difference switching DNS to DoH or Unbound.

The PC is connected via two powerline boxes and it would be difficult to move it closer to the FWG.  I have two servers, one synology and one open media vault which are hardwired and haven't had a problem, just the windows PC.

The only way to fix it is reboot.  Prior to the FWG I used opnsense and there wasn't a problem.  In moving from opnsense to FWG i did enable ipv6.  I disabled ipv6 on the PC and still had the same problem.

next step is to reinstall the ethernet drivers I think.

If you have any luck fixing it please post your solution...

Does your PC running any antivirus? if you are tap on + button on the firewalla app main screen, then look for "device port scan", and then disable that for the windows PC.

Port scan will 'scan' your PC, some antivirus doesn't like to be probed, so they block things.

I think this is the suspect. Right before I lost connection on my PC a few minutes ago, Bitdefender said 192.168.1.1 had scanned it's port, then my websites wouldn't connect any longer. I'll try to disable and give an update.

    Thanks

Ah, this could be it - I also run Bitdefender and have noticed a number of port scan warning popups.  I'll disable port scan protection and see what happens...

Well after 24 hours without a problem I'm very confident that it was a clash between BitDefender and Firewalla brought on by the port scanning.

I haven't been able to find a setting in BitDefender which allows an exception to scanning, but you can specify individual targets within the firewall...

Same here, I think this fixed it. Bitdefender + port scanning on a windows pc is the problem. Funny how Bitdefender is rather quiet about this.

I have noticed my Tasmota devices seem to be constantly showing up in Firewalla as offline, when they are not.  I can access their management page just fine.  And control them through Home Assistant.  And they show up mostly online in my TP-Link Routers in Access Point Only Mode.   Could Port Scanning be causing this?

If the device is running nicely, it is likely that the device itself is not responding to probs from firewalla (asking, are you up?) or sleeping (to conserve energy), you shouldn't worry.
