Setup Purple SE With Unifi USG
Hi, I have just ordered a Purple SE. I am currently using a Unifi USG for my router.
Whats the best practice for setup do i keep my USG connected or just replace it with Purple SE?
Currently setup ISP MODEM > USG > SWITCH > ACCESS POINT
Thanks

You can replace the USG, or ... use the bridge mode https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500012304202-Firewalla-Transparent-Bridge-Mode

As stated above, you basically have 2 options:
(a) Firewalla in Bridge mode.
Advantage: You keep the shiny-glitzy "single pane of glass" of the Unifi-ecosystem and can use most of the features of your FWP.(b) Replace USG with Firewalla and use in in Router mode.
"Disadvantage": You obviously lose some elements in UNA. Some stuff you'll do in UNA, some in Firewalla. You'll have to define your VLANs in both UNA and Firewalla for example.
On the other hand this is where the FWP will really shine and unleash all its power. In the end, you'll have to decide for yourself which approach suits better for you. You can always switch back and forth.
I've been using the FWP in Bridge mode for half a year. Then on a rainy day I decided to give it a try and change to Router Mode. I haven't looked back since and finally dumped the USG. Given there's an active aftermarket for USGs, you might be pleasantly surprised.
