    The release/renew should be done automatically by the box. Do you need explicitly renew?

    The ISP released the lease on their end. So had to renew on the router.

    I also have this issue... Rogers Cable ISP, power or service interruption down the line. Modem ("Bridged") receives new IP address but the "smart" router is not accessible.
    The cloud service and hardware doesn't try to auto-renew.

    @Firewalla
    Can you provide a guide or add to feature request for auto-renew after >5,10,15 minute outage?

    Firewalla will always DHCP, if the link is down, or DHCP expires, or the router sends something ... If the router dies and not sending messages or shutdown the link

    And in 1.54, we will give you a button to take care of the manual renewal...

    @Firewalla, the link doesn't actually drop from the router to the modem, they are on UPS.

    The connection does not auto-renew, the device has to be power cycled for it to pick up the new IP.
    Confirmed again today with power outage of 1 minute, the gold device would not automatically establish a new DHCP lease.... internet was out for over an hour with no remote accessibility.
    I had to get a family member go home and reboot the device.

    What good is a manual reset button in an app that only works if a cloud connection is established?
    Provide local accessibility and auto-renew like every other major co.

    @Brad, you have a point about remotely hitting that button without the internet.

    When your internet was down, do you know if the modem went down? Or it stays up? And after you reboot firewalla, did you get a new IP from the modem?

    The modem stays powered up but the connection back to Rogers CMTS drops which causes the modem to resync and gets a new address.
    Yes, we get a new IP after rebooting the firewalla gold.

    I am searching on the internet, it seems the Rogers CMTS lease is 60 min, which means, if you wait for 60 min, firewalla should be able to DHCP again. Did you wait that long?
