Is the problem your devices not getting IP addresses? (you should NOT need to assign static IP) or is the network slow?

Was attempting to assign a single static IP to the access point (TPlink). Prior to that I did not try setting a static ip.
Even then the overall problem was slow network to no connectivity when using the access point. Now though connecting directly to the firewall there is no internet. After that realization I stopped guessing and came here.

    Hi @Rick

That's a lot of moving parts. I suggest taking things one step at a time. Test each step before moving on. For example, you mentioned the modem. (What model?)

First, I would power down the modem and connect a device to the modem and see if the connection works as expected. If it does not, reset the modem. If it is fine, go on to the next step.

Power down the modem. Connect Purple WAN > modem and a device to Purple LAN (Purple in router mode) and power everything up. Pair to Firewalla if you haven't already. Set up  in router mode with a default LAN such as 192.168.0.1/24. Configure all the basics like DNS and confirm that it is generally working well. If this isn't smooth, decide if you want to start from scratch and reset the Firewalla. Depending on how much work that is, sometimes it is better than trying to get an old configuration to work. That said, this is usually not necessary. But sometimes a reset is the easiest course.

Be sure and test http://fire.walla:8833/ss/ from the ethernet device to see how your LAN speed looks. At this point don't worry about Wifi. Use the Internet Speed test in the Firewalla app to test from Firewalla to test the WAN. (see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056875493-Speed-test-and-Speed-Optimization-on-Firewalla ) and yes, do both tests. ;)

Next, disconnect the device you used to test the LAN from the ethernet and connect that to the trendnet TEG-S80g (hw v3 1R) managed hub and connect the same device back to the hub.
    modem > FWP {WAN} >
    FWP {LAN} > hub
    Hub > testing device

That should work just as well as before since I think there is nothing to configure on the hub. Rerun the speedtests and see if everything is good. When this test is complete, move on to the next step. If you like, also open https://diag.firewalla.com/ and you should see your firewalla info.

Now you can connect the tplink Archer A54 AC1200 router in AP mode to the switch. (guide here https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-a54/) You might want to reset the tp link before setting it in AP mode. You can start by letting the IP for the tp-link being set by Firewalla. That is fine but you might want to reserve an IP so that you can get to the router admin interface in the future. For now, DHCP will be fine. Keep things simple, one step at a time.

If you need help, post back.
