    Eero is always a good choice. 

    The Orbi is not bad, have you tried to reset the unit and see if it will work better? The best way is get a firewalla and use your existing orbi in AP mode. Some consumer routers are faster in AP mode. (We've also seen some of them don't implement the AP mode nicely and cause 2.4ghz issues ...)

    Thanks for the info, I have reset the Orbi before but it continues to lose internet occasionally, I even read on Netgear's reviews that is common with Orbi 5.  I have Zyxel USG40 for my firewall, but my throughput on the LAN is limited to 400 Mbps, but the Orbi is not set in AP mode.  For the money I've spent the Orbi is not worth it, so I am also looking at Ubiquiti for wifi and Purple for firewall.  My cable modem is Xfinity.

    TP-Link Omada is a lower cost Unifi (Ubiquiti-like) option.Performs well, but, like Unifi, more complex to set up than eero.
