Unable to set up Gold Plus
Hi, I have a brand new Firewalla Gold Plus I purchased to replace my Ubiquiti USG on an existing, working system. I am trying to set up Firewalla Gold in Router mode, preferably, but am running into problems.
I have the Gold port 4 connected to my Motorola MB8611 modem (I own, not a rental) via ethernet (cat 6). I have latest version of Firewalla App installed on my iphone, which has latest version of iOS.
I turn on Firewalla Gold box. It asks me to scan QR Code on bottom of Gold router. It scans and makes 2 beep sounds. In the phone app it asks me under "Set Up Connection" :
Choose connection type:
DHCP,
PPPoE,
Static IP, or
Triple Play.
I'm stumped. I do not know which one to choose. I reference online documentation and watch YouTube videos, other people show a screen here that shows an "Automatic" setup option.
I take a wild guess and go with DHCP.
Now I'm at the WAN Connection screen. It says the following:
Name: ISP 1
Connection Type DHCP
VLAN ID optional
Primary DNS Server optional
Secondary DNS Server optional
DHCP OPTION
Vendor Class Identifier optional
ADVANCED OPTIONS
IPv6 (switch turned ON (blue)
IPv6 Connection Type DHCPv6
MAC Address optional
Then I press NEXT screen.
I press Next and come to (moving blue line like something is happening...) that says below it :
Preparing...
Verifying Network Settings...
Applying Network Settings....
(blue line finishes)
Then another screen says:
INTERNET UNAVAILABLE (10)
Connection Type DHCP
VLAN ID ?
IP Address Unavailable
Subnet Mask Unavailable
Gateway Unavailable
Primary DNS Server Unavailable
Secondary DNS Server Unavailable
(Red Button) for Manual Set Up
I do not know what I've done wrong that I don't see the Automatic setup option. My last three routers did not require ISP information, they just worked when I plugged them into a rebooted modem. As far as I know my modem is not a combination router, nor has it ever been used that way.

Assuming you rebooted the cable modem.
DHCP should work, especially if your Ubiquiti USG was using DHCP. Have you plugged a laptop directly into your cable modem and verified your laptop can pull an address when configured for DHCP? I'd do that and then log in to the modem and verify the modem config...then insert Firewalla in place of laptop.
