FWG --> FWG+ migration experience / feedback
Alright, was lucky enough to get my FWG+ in the mail today. Here's been my experience thus far.
Pre-setup - switched existing FWG over to Beta channel just in case the migration needed anything in the 1.975 build. Waiting for Beta + firmware upgrade to complete, then verified that box was running at 1.975. All good, time for.....
Initial setup - powered up FWG+ next to FWG while FWG was still running the home network. As other threads have noted that caused bluetooth conflicts with "invalid QR" errors. Unplugged FWG and was able to proceed with FWG+ install.
Setup proceeded with a successful QR scan, selected FWG box to migrate from, was told to move cables and we're off!
Two minutes later told internet is unavailable and to setup manually after rebooting cable modem (rebooted cable modem, choose manual setup, DHCP, and we're off again).
App runs for about.....18-20 minutes from that point until I get the welcome screen.
Wifi doesn't appear to be up and the app is slow interfacing with FWG+.
Couple of issues become apparent very quickly:
Device groups were maintained, but none of the static IPs assigned were kept
LAN DHCP range is now 192.168.19.x instead of the previous range 192.168.78.x
After changing the LAN DHCP range back, and manually reassigning IPs (and rebooting devices that were stuck in limbo) the network is back up and running.
Only other issues - OpenVPN was preserved, and shouldn't have been? Resetting just in case. And the wifi-SD configuration I had is no longer present, will setup again.
All that said - finally saw 1.3Gbps coming off my comcast cable modem on a speedtest. Once wifi was re-enabled app response time to device changes became nearly instantaneous. Everything seems to be snappy and responsive now.
Questions, let me know.
