Overlapping subnet on second WAN

Firewalla Gold: I try to configure my second WAN port to a second static IP from my ISP, and though this worked fine on my previous router, an old Netgear, I'm getting a message that the subnets overlap and can't be configured. It's true the two static IPs are only 1 away from each other, and both have 255.255.255.248 subnet masks, but why can't this work?

  Is your WAN from the same ISP? coming from the same modem? WAN networks needs to be different networks

  Yes. This worked fine with our previous router.
