Would using Gold and Purple be overkill? I could use some advice

  Hard to answer without understanding what you mean by using Gold and Purple. On the same network? That usually wouldn't have any benefit. But again, hard to answer without more context. 

  Between two locations? Yes! That's a great use of the units. 
  
  Purple for travel to network back to a home or office location? You bet.
