Speed Test Inside Firewalla for VPN Client
Hi,
I know we can do a speed test inside FW of our internet speed. Is there also an option to test the speed over the VPN connection? I'm testing different VPN providers but it would be nice to be able to check the speed they offer.
If it's not possible in the GUI, would the speedtest CLI perhaps be able to do this? Will the VPN connection show up as a selectable ethernet interface?
Thanks!

Ok, but the test is still not "perfect" right? Because WiFi signals basically change (think interference, change position of the phone, etc.) and because my phone WiFi is slower than my WAN. You're basically making the test dependent on an extra device whereas the internet connection test in FW is just straight from FW to the internet, without any extra device.
Anyway, just my two cents... it would be nice if the feature were to be implemented :-) -
You're looking to test outgoing VPN providers where firewalla or your laptop is the client, right?
If so, I don't think there's a test from within Firewalla? If you just want to test the speed of the provider overall a hardwired laptop, and speed test would probably be best. If you want to include firewalla in the test, then you'd set up the VPN Client for the provider in Firewalla, add your (hardwired) laptop as a client and use speedtest.

Indeed, I'm trying to test the internet connection over VPN with Firewalla as the VPN Client. And that doesn't seem to be possible unfortunately, not from within the FW app at least. Your suggestion is indeed all I could come up with as well... a hardwired computer and then test the speed.
It would be nice to do this from within the FW app though ;-) Just a thought...
Either way, thanks for the replies!
