bridge mode question (Purple)
Hi, I am thinking about getting a Firewalla Purple and have a question about bridge mode. My existing network configuration is an AT&T fiber router in bridge mode connected via RJ45 to my Asus mesh router, to which I have multiple mesh nodes. AT&T mandates the use of their fiber router - not only does it have a fiber connection, but it also does some authentication.
I am thinking I would add the Purple between the AT&T router (in bridge mode) and my main Asus router, all via RJ45. Seems pretty simple.
My question is about have two devices in bridge mode connected to each other (the AT&T router and then the Purple). Will this cause me any issues? Anything special I need to understand or worry about?
Thank you for your time.

The AT&T definitely has a bridge mode, I am using it now, like so:
AT&T (bridge mode) -> Asus router (router mode)
If I go with either of your solutions, I would essentially be using my mesh system just for the wireless (a fancy WAP). I would need to investigate if my units still support a mesh config in bridge mode, which is unknown to me right now (I use AiMesh on non-mesh routers that support AiMesh).
I guess it comes down to which unit has the best router features...
Out of curiosity, what happens if I bridge then bridge, like so? Is it like crossing the streams and the world ends as we know it?
AT&T (bridge mode) -> Purple (bridge mode) -> Asus router (router mode)

Just to close out this topic, the Asus AiMesh can run in router to AP mode. The best solution, IMO, it is:
ATT in bridge mode -> purple in router mode -> Asus in AiMesh AP
When you set up the primary AiMesh unit from scratch, select AP mode. Once it is up and running, connect to the unit's web interface and add additional mesh nodes.
Here are two articles discussing it:
