I have been working with Eero because my mesh network keeps failing. I had a previous network from Orbi that also constantly failed. When i bought the Eeros i thought my network problems would be solved but the eero support engineer looked at my logs and said "Specifically, we're still seeing loops over ethernet traffic, and we've experienced over 24 million multicast packets that were dropped over the past 24 hours."
I don't have any physical loops in my network. and it is all connected to one port on my GOLD and then to a 24 port Netgear switch. So the configuration is Xfi Modem, Firewalla in Router Mode, Eero in Bridge mode ahead of all other devices , then Netgear Switch and then wired connections in different rooms and 3 other Eeros around the house. I use HomeBridge to manage my IOT devices as well as Scrypted. I set up Smart Ques for the Eero's but that does not seem to help. I also turned on Loop detect on my Netgear switch and it shows no loops. I have attached my device list.
So i have a couple of questions :
1) Is there a way through my GOLD to see what Mac or IP is generating the multicast packets?
2) Is there a way to block those multicast packets
3) If i put the Eeros on a separate Lan Port will that stop the multicast packets from bring down the Eero's (Do multicast packets traverse Lan ports on the gold) - I do need the wireless devices to talk to the wired devices
4) If not my Firewalla what tool do i use to identify the multicast source
5) can you suggest a network Engineer (Seattle) that can help?
