You will need a PoE injector or a PoE switch. Also are you going to use an Omada controller or configure it standalone?

Hi Charles,  Thank you for responding, by the sounds of it I may have misunderstood my requirements , I assumed from the install instructions and diagrams that if if i wanted to use the Firewalla Purple in router mode then due to my current router being a SKY Hub, i would disable Wifi on the SKY Hub, connect FWP to SKY Hub and then from FWP connect the TP-LINK Wifi Access Point.  I thought that would be all I need but sounds like its not as simple as that.

In theory, that's what you could do but that particular unit is designed to be used as part of the Omada SDN family (think Ubiquiti). Typically one would combine it with routers/switches/APs all controlled by an Omada controller, either a dedicated piece of hardware like the OC-200 or via software(docker) running on Firewalla. You can also configure the AP via it's own web interface, but where it shines is within the Omada eco-system which has things like VLAN support. It's range is also limited. It can probably cover 1500 sq ft.

Last is the physical power requirement. It doesn't come with a AC(Mains) adapter because it's meant to be powered by Power Over Ethernet from an upstream POE switch. You can get around this with a POE injector but again kind of defeats the purpose since there are probably other easier to use and configure stand-alone Access Points.

The 615 is really great in an Omada Eco system and it's particular great if you need local wired ports too because it has 3 extra ports and 1 is POE forwarded.

If you want something simpler and don't need VLANs, I would suggest one of the mesh setups that have multiple APs.

Here is a pretty decent Youtube vid that was recently uploaded: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBtPme0RQ2U
