Tips to maximize 5gig fiber connection with Gold Plus
I'm planning on getting 5gig fiber connection because of a good deal. I've been reading up on the equipment used and trying to understand how to maximize the usage of this connection with a Firewalla Gold Plus.
It's AT&T fiber so they'll probably give me a BGW620, which as I understand it doesn't have LAG, so the connection to the Firewalla 2.5gb port will already halve the max connection. Downstream, I have a gigabit switch which currently has a couple eero 6 (not 6e) pro's as access points and a few wired devices which really are low bandwidth usage. Since the eero's are gigabit ports too and none of the wired hardware would benefit from the increased bandwifth, it doesn't make sense to buy a 2.5gb switch, right? is there any other way to eek out anything else from this connection?

In order to take advantage of the full 5Gbit, you will need the Gold Pro. This way, at least at your gateway level, you can get full 5Gbit; this then can be split between AP's (it won't be natural, but if you have 5 gigabit eero connect to the same switch and that switch has a 5Gbit (or more) uplink to the Gold Pro, and all 5 eero units are doing gigabit, then you are utilizing the full bandwidth.
