Xfinity Xfi Alternatives to Gateway Mode with Firewalla Purple SE
Hi everyone.
I have a new Firewalla Purple SE connected from the WAN port to an Xfinity Xfi Router. Both devices are in Router mode.Purple SE is connected from LAN port to an unmanaged switch. I then have two ethernet lines and WiFi Mesh APs connected to the switch. It all works fine, except I have a double NAT situation.
To eliminate that problem I want to change the Xfi to Gateway mode, but cannot because another person in my home connects only to the Xfi. We want separate LANs. So I am looking for a way to set the Xfi so it bypasses its firewall only for the Purple SE. Is Port Forwarding the answer? If it is, how would I set that up?

Just to clarify — port forwarding is not the right tool here. Port forwarding is used to expose specific services on your internal network to the internet, not to bypass the upstream router's firewall for a downstream device.
Since the Xfinity Xfi has its own app and settings interface, we'd recommend reaching out to Xfinity support directly to see if your desired configuration is possible to achieve. Probably ask if your specific gateway model supports DMZ. DMZ might be the solution here. But the better to consult with them, as they know their product better.
