Best Configuration with Charter TM-1602
I recently purchased FW Purple. I have limited, naive understanding about firewalls, but know enough as a 75-yr old to make a FW purchase. I have a Charter modem (TM-1602). The modem (modem only) has an input CAT 5E data-line, power source as well as some kind of TV cable connection on back side (cable modem?) I am wanting to set-up my newly purchased Purple in router mode. It would appear however, that I need to ask or purchase an upgraded modem from Charter given the existence of single LAN modem input on TM-1602. If so, can someone recommend a specific modem model as a Charter replacement?
My current Purple setup is: CAT cable to modem (Single CAT input). Purple WAN to unmanaged switch. Switch to Amplifi HD with feedback cable from Amplifi back to switch. It appears this configuration is allowing Purple to function, but I am uncertain how or in what manner (DHCP?)
Any ideas or recommendations about a modem upgrade compatible with Charter?
I'd pay FW if online phone support were an option.

OK. First of all, thank you VERY much for all the feedback provided above. Thank you all.
I was able to successfully and correctly set-up Purple in Router mode. All is well.
Given prior install difficulties, I thought it best to "reset" Purple to defaults. Once this was done, I acknowledged preference for Router Mode installation. Once this took effect, I placed Amplifi HD in Bridge Mode. Bottom line, it all (seems) to work as wanted with Purple in router mode.
It would have been great if FW could clearly explain in their online instructions, as was done by posters above, that it is necessary to FIRST switch or declare Router Mode in set-up process or thereafter, THEN set router to Bridge Mode. In failing to follow this sequence, I lost my Amplifi connection which required me to re-set router to default settings and start anew.
Thanks again to all for help and suggestions. Now to learn more about functions and options of my Purple.
I look forward to one day FW offering online install and correction videos for naive users such as myself. I'm now looking forward to helping my down the street neighbor install her Blue-Plus!! Maybe there will be a "plus" in it for me!!!

OK. Cancel the above. My understanding of modem wiring was incorrect.
Current (working) configuration.
Modem=Arris TM-1602. Input at back of modem is to wireless router, Amplifi HD. FW Purple WAN to unmanaged switch. Switch is linked to Amplifi HD with feedback cable from back of Amplifi, back to switch. Purple LAN is not used. Any ideas what type of configuration this is? DHCP?
In order to establish Router Mode, I would prefer: Modem LAN to Purple WAN. Purple LAN to Wireless Amplifi WAN & feedback cable at back of Amplifi to switch. At this set-up, when I set Amplifi to "bridge mode" on (from off position in first scenario) all heck breaks loose. DNS error & who knows what else. When I revert to first scenario above, all is good. Looks like no option for Router Mode for me?

You are on the right track. You need Amplify in Bridge mode with Purple in router mode. https://help.amplifi.com/hc/en-us/articles/220979347-Enabling-Bridge-Mode
I don't know what you mean by a feedback cable. Can you clarify? You may be creating a loop.
Do you have more than one amplify? If so, be sure to follow these instructions for hooking them up.

If all that fails, you may want to try going from Purple LAN > to the LAN port of the amplify. It sounds like maybe you used the WAN port? Different routers have different logic to how that works and I don't know about Amplify.
Here are a list of modems that will work for you if you want to go that route:
