Issues extending network on purple

I recently purchased a Firewalla Purple and am using it in router mode. My Xfinity modem/router is in bridge mode connected to the WAN port and working fine - just a weak signal once you get not too far away.

I have a Motorola AC1900 modem/router combo on hand and was looking to extend my range by using that to push the network out into my next room. It only has LAN ports and I connected one of those to my open LAN port on my purple. I've tried everything I could find from Firewalla and the internet - running the device in bridge mode, disabling DHCP, etc, and I just can't get the internet to pass through on it. I'd appreciate any help on this. I am obviously not very knowledgeable about networking, so the simplest steps possible, please. Don't assume I know anything.

Are you trying to use the WiFi on the modem? depend on the manufacture, modems operate much differently than a traditional router. What kind of modem is this? If it is docsis, one side has to be cable and the other is ethernet, so you really can't turn it into an access point

Thanks. That's probably the issue. It's a cable modem/router, so the WAN port is the coaxial cable which can't receive a CAT. I thought you could go through a LAN port, but I guess you can't. Thanks!
