Ping from local to outside does not show up on Network Flows

I have an hourly ping to Google.com and when I look at Network Flows it does not show that traffic even though my computer log files confirm the ping was done.

Is there a setting to show ping traffic?

  We don't log ICMP traffic, so there isn't a way to view it unfortunately.

  How is ICMP tunneling detected?  Or does Firewalla detect unusual packets in and out to WAN?

  I read about malicious commands or data within the ICMP data field.

  Abornal upload alarms should be able to catch strange traffic. We just don't log ICMP
