Planning for AP7 Installation - Issues/problems to Expect?
I just installed a Gold SE and am delighted with it. My skills, needs and current configuration are basic; I only have one LAN and no VLANs; I am using IPv4 and v6. I have about 40 devices, about half of which are connected wirelessly. These include Windows 11 PCs, Google Pixel 9 phones, Apple and Google tablets, Google TVs, Roku, Tablo, and various IoT devices. I would like to replace my current older Wi-Fi access points with three desktop AP7s. The AP7s would connect to a 2.5Ghz switch to which the Gold SE is also directly connected. My primary concern is, after initial setup, reliable performance including compatibility with my existing WPA2 devices. I would like to start with a simple, basic configuration, make sure all devices have a reliable connection, and add sophistication over time. I'd greatly appreciate feedback - are there any potential issues/problems for which I should be prepared? Is it likely that I will get reliable performance out-of-the-box? Thank you very much!

I was in a similar situation as yourself. I had a bunch of Netgear APs plugged into a switch that my FW Gold. Continuity is important because both my wife and I work from home. We have a bunch of online meetings. I have enough ethernet ports to have both APs (FW and Netgear) in the same locations at the same time. I created a new SSID for the FW APs and moved devices over to the new SSID over a couple weeks. After a while I disconnected my Netgear APs. I did it one at a time. Just out of paranoia :)
I've only had one issue with my work laptop. It's a windows machine. It will connect to the 2.4 GHz network to an AP father away than the one right next to me. This happens initially, but eventually it will connect to the closer 5 GHz network. Honestly this may have been happening with the Netgear as well. Because of the transition, I was monitoring things closely. I also had no easy way of knowing how things were connecting on Netgear. I also don't think there is an easy way for firewalla to change this. It's the computer choosing what network to join.
Given all of that I have about 60-70 devices connecting through wifi. I've had no issues other than the initial connection to the 2.4 mentioned above. I'm really happy with it. The only remaining Netgear AP I have is the one outside. I need some kind of mountable enclosure for an AP7C :)
