Things to do before the leap.

The SB8200 is docsis 3.1 compliant and gad 32 downstream channels and is capable of full 1gb download. I have been using this modem with Comcast for over a year. It's on the certified modem list for use with Comcast. I suggest login into the modem to confirm how many channels are binding because if all 32 channels bind then you will achieve full 1gb download. But this is o ly possible with the Gold firewalla

My bad the Purple supports Gig download speed and the Gold supports multi gig download speeds. If you purchased a plan that has 1gb download speed then you should contact Comcast and let them know you aren't getting full gig download. They might send an installer out to check the cable drop from the street to your house because you should be able to achieve full gig download speeds or very close thereof like great than 970mb

Comcast has me at 1.2Gb. A SP8200 I bought used is doing some 600mb down after connecting the Purple. Usually it was 280mb. I see that Ch 9 is not locked and 2 through 8 are not listed at all. This is not the "approved" modem for 1.2Gb, and actually they changed the "approved" modem a few weeks ago.
It's rock steady and I'll just keep it for now.
