QR code location!
Why isn’t there a printed piece of paper inside the box with the QR as well as the one on the bottom of the device? To mount the device, make connections to the modem and switch to then power up an require a QR code that’s only on the underside of the box is asinine. I can’t think of any other device I’ve used that doesn’t also have this QR sticker a paper inside the box or on the exterior of the box. Granted since there is no incentive for dealers to sell these devices the one I installed yesterday might be the last I install but if you guys want to sell more boxes you should really think about catering to SMB and residential dealers which you currently don’t.

You have a good point.
When you installed the box, did you follow the installation instructions from https://firewalla.com/install? or use the app directly? what we can do is document the process better.
As of slip a piece of paper, it may be possible, will check with our manufacture. Usually, we ask, they will add some $, and we will pass that savings to you.

I don’t believe the app or the online procedure tells you not to mount it first, they do say to wire it first which implies mounting if it is intended to be mounted. Printing two stickers as opposed to one might cost you another penny for a box that is already priced fairly high compared to similar and often more versatile boxes. This is the 3rd gold I’ve installed but I don’t remember if this has bit me before and like I said most other IT products come with extra stickers to use during provisioning for that reason.

Yeah that function is there but only useful once provision and paired to your first mobile device. Plus tue QR randomly changes and is only valid for 10 minutes which makes giving customers access when not physically next to each other is a PITA. Fortunately one client of the 3 golds installed in the last few months wanted access. The aruba instant on APs/ switches just ask for the new person’s email and the cloud sends them an email with the credentials to access the Instant On cloud portal.

The license code never change, it is tied to your box. The pairing one will change, that one is to support pairing of new phones. For additional pairing, the app can also share the pairing code see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004369774-Adding-a-new-phone-to-manage-an-existing-Firewalla
So you do not need to use the original sticker.

You need to use the original sticker to set up and pair the first mobile device to the Firewalla which is what this post is about. Whether you call it a license code or pairing code makes no difference. Fact is they’re essentially the same just the one on the devices allows the first device to pair and the one under advanced settings allows subsequent additional mobile devices to pair and it’s that one that is dynamically generated and lasts only 10 minutes which btw is annoying when the person you’re trying to give access to isn’t onsite.
