Setting up VLAN's on the purple is no different than the Gold, so not sure where you get the impression it is difficult.

But if you want to pick a switch, netgear and tplink ones are relatively simple and inexpensive, all the configuration can be done locally. Recently we start with the Aruba switches (bigger ones), they can be configured via a phone. Ubnt is also not bad, for that you will need a controller

With you the Gold you can use the physical Eth ports for your vlans, but with Purple you are force to setup vlan tagging and trunks, etc.   I know it should be simple in theory, but there are alot of posts on these Community forums of users having trouble getting everything setup correctly.    I was just wondering if people noticed a certain switch/AP vendor that seemed to work well with the Firewalla's and were simple to configure.

    Thanks,

I’ve got a Netgear switch (got it for free, otherwise I would get TP-Link switch) and TP-Link APs

I found it to be really easy, in fact the Firewalla is probably the easiest device I've ever set up VLANs on.  My switch is a Netgear GS7xx, I'll post details on setting up VLANs with those switches at some point when I've got time to type them up.

Thanks Dave.. Looking forward to see your details.  I ended up getting some D-Link DSG-1100 Series switches.  Reviews on them were pretty good regarding VLAN configuration & Mgmt.  Will be setting them up soon and try to report back with my experiences.

Nag me in a few days if I forget, just so it doesn't start slipping too far down the todo list :-).
