Working with mesh
I am using a Huawei Mesh WiFi 7 system (wired backhaul) and the nodes are excellent as far as speed and coverage is concerned. The system does lack severely on features. I recently bought an ASUS router and to test it out, removed the main Huawei node connected to the ISP and replaced it with the ASUS. Configured the ASUS and interestingly, all Huawei nodes started working with it.
I then thought that I'd try replacing the ASUS with FWG that I was previously using and enjoy Huawei's mesh with the feature set of FWG. However, that did not work and the the Huawei nodes couldn't connect to internet when going through FWG.
The biggest difference I could think of between the ASUS router and FWG was that the ASUS router had WiFi and I had created the same named WiFi network as my previous Huawei setup. Also, these new Huawei nodes don't have an option to work in Access Point mode so that's not something that I can do.
Can I try anything else? I suppose I could have the main Huawei node connected to FWG but then double NAT issues.
