Firmware Updates to Other Devices

Since rocking my Purple, I have noticed that a firmware update for specifically my Apple MagSafe Battery pack was not loading.

After reading about how the firmware updates, I learned it involves leaving the MagSafe connected to my iPhone overnight. At some point the iPhone checks with Apple and will update the firmware. This was not happening.

so, I examined my blocked flows and there are plenty from Apple being regularly blocked.

 

As a test, last night I took my phone off the Firewalla network, no restrictions, just a 5g signal to my carrier. The battery pack updated to the latest firmware no issues.

 

So, if your wondering why any particular devices of yours doesn’t get auto firmware updates, check your blocked flows. This is just a guess at what happened here, but it makes sense.

  The first thing to check is the "rules" button, all the blocks are there. See this article for details https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050255274-What-to-do-when-you-can-t-access-certain-website-

  Also, blocked flows under "blocked flows" also may mean the DNS address is not valid. This happens a lot if your device is enterprise ...
