My first thought is: are you using family protect?

If yes, family protect is using opendns for families which is filtering. So firewalla does not filter sth at this point, because the external dns will not answer if the content is not suitable with family protect.

you can try disable family protect to check if it solves the problem.

If you don't use family protect, what are your upstream dns servers? Maybe sth is filtered / blocked there?

I was using (and still using) pi-hole before setting up firewalla. So ads are filtered in my network there and i don't use family protect or ad blocking

My Family Protect is off.  I don't think it's my upstream DNS because if I connect directly to my upstream's modem/router, I don't have any issues accessing any sites.

Check if the DNS "blocked" exist or not. The system can't distinguish an invalid (or private DNS) vs. one that's blocked.

For example, you take your work machine home and not VPN back to work, you will see a bunch of DNS request as blocked, and these DNS are usually enterprise DNS
