Cannot see NAS drives from iOS "Files" app

I have this set up: Netgear CM1000 modem, FireWalla Gold (as FW and router), Orbi WAP (DHCP off), Apple Airport Extreme (bridge mode, no transmission, hard wired to Firewalla Gold). The Airport Extreme has 3 drives attached to the USB port as NAS for Time Machine and other shared storage. I can reach it from all my computers, but not from iOS Files. I have tried the IP address via smb and afp but with no luck. It sees something but when I enter user and password, it always fails. What am I doing wrong?

  Tripple check and make sure your airport is on the same LAN as rest of your devices. Not sure if the airport has restrictions on WAN interface accessing the file server, that may be a good thing to check
