Verizon WiFi calling Smart Queue (QoS)
Good evening,
I've been having call quality issues with my verizon service. Verizon's cell coverage has been pretty spotty in my neighborhood, so much so that they were willing to provide me with a "mini cell tower" or network extender box. A few months ago, Comcast downgraded my broadband speeds, limiting my upload to ~5Mbps. I believe around this time the call quality suffered, whether I was doing WiFi calling or using the new cell tower. In the last week or so I came to the realization that the issue could potentially be solved by configuring QoS/Smart Queue. I did find this on Verizon's site for the network extender, but haven't followed through on the amount of configuration that appears to be required. https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-25525/. Instead I opted to allow any traffic to the internet by this device to have up to 9 Mbps (I'm still getting about that much in upload). This seems to have resolved my extender call quality. I still want to to try to follow the specific items Verizon calls out so I don't have to be so broad in the current configuration.
However, I still haven't found any specifics on how to configure QoS for my iPhone. I currently have WiFi calling disabled so that my calls go through the extender for now, but would like to reenable WiFi calling for when I'm at other places that have spotty coverage.
I did try placing some calls and then use the network flows feature to try to see what traffic is produced, but I didn't see anything. Also, the extender is quite quiet from the network flow perspective. Maybe it has some long standing sockets that the network flow doesn't track.
In summary, I'm wondering if anyone else has had success in setting up QoS for Verizon WiFi calling via iOS and an extender?

Are you using the FWG? You can just turn on the smart queue and then set the upload to 4.5mbps (rate limit). Doing this will optimize the smart queue a bit to your upload speed. (if your download is <100mbit, you should limit that to 90mbit). After you have done this, give it a try, if the call quality is still not good, launch the firewalla app and watch the live traffic view and see if you are using the full bandwidth.
