Can local devices on the network see the original network from the router and the overlay network created by Firewalla? Basically will local devices know they are connecting to a network monitored by Firewalla in DHCP mode? Is there any way for a local device to find this out?

  If they are on the physical network segment, they should be able to see both. If you have devices on the main network (like a phone ... any type of wifi display) then likely they may broadcast "mDNS" and identify themselves. 

  There are other ways to listen to traffic on the LAN as well.

  Is it possible to place the overlay-network into a VLAN? I think, the overlay-network is just a 2nd IP-range in the same network, isn't it? I think my firewalla red is not having the functionality of VLAN, rite? So i can't test that situation.

  There is no VLAN support on the single port units (red/blue/blue+)

  schade. is the hardware too limited to support VLAN? poor switches are also possible with VLAN, so i don't think it's hardware limitations
