Round Robin for dns entries

Hi,

I'm trying to implement load balancing redundancy where if a service on my lan fails the same domain will route to another ip.

I see that DNS rules can only point to 1 IP address.

If I make multiple DNS entries with the same name with different IP addresses, when I simulate a failure by bringing a box down, the other entry is not used, the domain configured just goes to the box that is down still.

Is there anyway to do this with firewalla?

  Firewalla DNS rules are local and not global. If you do have a IP service, you really need to modify the DNS server entries instead of Firewalla.

  Hi there,

  Yes, I'm speak of my internal lan. I make use of firewalla dns to assign my lan machines their own custom DNS. This works well. I'm asking is there anyway that I can assign more than 1 IP to the same DNS entry within my lan.

  You can not do that; The DNS services running is just a simple proxy and can't do load balancing on the LAN side. (one name mapping to two IP)
