This is a tough nut to crack. The problem is defining "access". When the device is powered up and connected to the network, there is usually some backgound traffic (noise) even when the user isn't actively using it. Unless you have somne way of excluding that noise, the counting of hours of access is very inaccurate, almost to the point of being useless. Of course if the device is always turned off when not being actively used, it would work fine. Then again, if the wizards at Firewalla could figure out how to exclude the background traffic, that would be amazing.

The Circle parental control app does this quite well - at least the hardware box version we’ve used, which also installs a VPN. Unfortunately, Circle appears to be deprecating the hardware box version, which has other capabilities that we need, and the VPN version is now rolled in with a suite of “value added” services that are pretty intrusive and useless.
