Can you paste the error here? Firewalla by default always uses DHCP on the WAN, unless you specify a static IP

There's not an error - the app just pops up the static ip configuration page.

Firewalla will use DHCP to gain IP by default. If you are given a static IP config option, it is very likely your box couldn't connect to the internet using this IP. Better to check if there is any filter or DNS configuration will stop a new device from connecting to internet. I often see this happen when user is using opendns service with filtering which blocks Firewalla service.

That makes sense - I will have to try it again.  I did see that the device had an IP provided, but then the firewall was denying it access to the internet.  Without rebuilding everything, can I tell the Firewalla to switch back to DHCP?

I found it.  I edited the WAN network and changed it to DHCP and it grabbed the IP I reserved for it in the server.  I wish I had remembered to open the firewall first...  :(
