Can I add access points of another brand if the AP7 is my main Access point?  I need 3 access points to cover my house. Spending $355 times 3 is too much to justify in my mind.

  You can't do that and make it a mesh...
  the other brand would have to be a different ssid and you'd be dependant on your client to drop the ap7 ssid when it got really weak to jump to the other.  this jump is not seamless as it would be with all ap7's.  

  so either that functionality is ok with you to save $ or you save up for the 355 x 3.
