    Can you let us know where you read about the "loopback" issue?

    Mostly commentary on various reddit threads, examples below.  Hopefully just hearsay or maybe specific to Eero and the Deco AP's?

    The top critical review for the switches I'm considering also makes mention that they do not support IEEE 1905.1 which is used by TP-Link Deco devices, not sure if AP7 uses this standard though?

    Unfortunately, within minutes of powering everything on, the secondary router (connected to the switch for Ethernet backhaul) started dropping from the network. In addition, my home LAN slowed to a crawl, and I was unable to keep any wired or Wi-Fi device connected for more than a minute.
    It turns out that TP-LINK uses IEEE 1905.1 standard for ethernet backhaul on its Deco line of routers, which this TRENDNet switch does not support.

    I've asked about this thrice (via reddit and via the AP announcement thread) and never got a response.

    Mesh has a problem with a number of protocols.  I disabled them on my managed switches.  But, my understanding is it is based upon the implementation by eero, et al, and not the principle itself.  So the curious thing will be how firewalla is implementing it.

    Also, this is one additional reason why we have to piggyback eeros off of the first AP if they are wired for backhaul.  That is to say, primary eero plugs into a switch or firewalla and secondary eeros plug into eero's additional ethernet port (can use a switch behind the primary eero for multiple eeros are needing wired).

    I've asked for clarification on this and no replies.  I guess I'm too dumb. :-(

    We are not using anything similar to eero or IEEE1905;

    Related to AP7 + Switches, how is trunking set up on AP7 side?  I have a 10Gb switch I'll plus 3 AP7's into and intend to have multiple SSID's/VLAN pairs.  I assume they will be tagged trunk ports, but wanted to ask the best way to configure and any recommendations you all may have?

    Thank you!

    AP7's need to be connected to tagged or trunk ports. (if you know what you are doing and don't use VLAN's, they also can go to an access or untagged port)

    When configuring tagged/trunk port, you just need to make sure the VLAN tags are configured on those ports (if there is an option). And also your firewalla should also have these VLAN created as a layer 3 network.
