Network Printer Problem

I split my network into to Lan networks.  One for wired devices and one for wireless devices.  My printer is on my wired network.  None of my wired devices have trouble printing to the printer.

My wirless devices are sometimes able to print to my wired printer but normally not.  I typically get an error message stating that the printer is offline (it is plugged in and wired devices can print to it). 

I set my default gateway as the wired network's gateway thinking that the printer was not able to communicate back to the wireless network but that did not help.  How else should I do this?

  You should not need to modify your printer configuration, DHCP is enough.

  Can you try to ping your printer from a wireless endpoint?  Also check if your wireless blocks LAN to WLAN broadcast/multicast.

  I have an RT-AC5300 running the wireless network.  I don't see an exact match to Lan to WLAN broadcast/multicast.  It does have Set AP Isolated which prevents computers from talking to each other.  That is Disabled.

  Testing from in the router I can ping the gateway but not other devices downstream in the system, such as the printer.

  Can you the router reach your AP?  and AP is in bridge mode?  try to arp for the printer and see if you get something.  If not, then likely the AP is doing something

  I can reach the router and it is in bridge mode.  What do you mean by ARP?

  if you have a pc or Linux, you can type "arp [printer IP]" and see if it will show up.  If it doesn't, you have an issue with your network segments.  You will need to double-check how your printer is connected to the main network, and make sure there is no NAT in between.
