PumpSpy Basement Pump Backup System Iot - Wifi bypassing Firewalla in Simple Mode
Hi, I have an interesting one.
I have 2x PumpSpy monitors on my network connected via Wifi DHCP from the router, and Blue+ in Simple Mode plugged directly into the router.
I do notice on the FIOS G1100 router; when Blue+ has devices connected to it they show as inactive on the router, and when their is a device that is still not connected yet to the Blue+, disconnect the Blue+ the devices show as Active on the router.
I get that part that the Blue+ is effectively masking devices from the router so they show inactive.
In testing I am blocking random IoT devices to see the effects. It blocks Amazon Echo's very reliably, and my remote cameras as well. When I try it with PumpSpy those devices bypass the block.
I noticed on the router as I have the PumpSpy's blocked; they show up as active, then inactive in random intervals. I am assuming the way those devices work is they must get blocked, then as a reaction to that, they must force a DHCP lease refresh which seems to momentarily put them outside of the Blue+ to connect to their servers. I see the connections in the NetFlow also, so its a little confusing.
Anyway; I am moving to Gold in router mode anyway so this is not an issue for me, however just thought I would toss the observation out there.
Thanks...
