GOLD in Router Mode - ADSL Modem Firewall on?

Hello all, 

GOLD in Router Mode / on my ADSL Modem, should the firewall be on or off on the ASDL modem?

  The Gold has a layer of firewall, but if you have another and it doesn't slow down your network, turn it on please.  In security, if it doesn't bug you, the more layers the better.

  Thanks, router firewall is on as well, no noticeable effect on speed.
