Configure FW Gold in sandbox?

I have a network with a few port forwarding rules, and paths I wish to segment. Firewalla seems to assume you bang the box into the network then start configuring; no doubt simple enough for those with trivial home networks or experience with the FW interface. However, I would like to configure offline, check the settings, and only then introduce it in place of the existing router for further testing before I put into [home] production, because (aside from ordinary caution) family members who reside elsewhere expect our server to be up. I do not wish to be experimenting during the day.

Desired actions include reserving IP addresses by MAC, but in a sandbox (FW in router mode in the network with no dependents). I am unable to deal with proposed devices (even though I know the MACs and intended addresses) because they are not there at the time. I cannot forward ports to unseen devices although again I know where they are in MAC/IP terms. Is there a way of "pre-configuring" the FW Gold, other than working at 2 AM when all is quiet? I am a bit old for that sort of fun.

Reserving MAC to IP without discovering MAC is already on our list to do. Just need more upvote. I've already added your interest to that feature.

I upvoted. Having ability to preconfigure before hookup to production would be a big deal. Im running a server. Preferably least down time as possible would be awesome. Not a big deal anymore since i've already jumped through hoops but it would be nice if i ever expand.

Thank you for the upvote, mastodon extinction. I realise I never made it explicit that a server is part of my configuration and thus among the reasons for the request. I know from other threads that more people have similar home configurations.
