Firewalla Blue Plus with Pi-Hole

I love how many people have talked about Pi-hole with Firewalla, but didn't seem like this question was directly answered.  Basically my thought is having Firewalla Blue Plus running Pi-Hole, but enable Family Protect for specific devices (children's devices).  Does this configuration work?  I'm assuming the Children's devices (under Family Protect) would get all the Safe Search stuff, etc. while other devices not under Family Protect would go through Pi-Hole?  Am I missing something and Pi-Hole can do what Family Protect does and I'm just over thinking it and should just have everything going through Pi-Hole?

  It might be different  on the Blue but on the Gold, you have to run the PiHole on a different subnet so all of your traffic looks like its coming from the same IP so it makes the filtering on PiHole basically worthless. Putting your PiHole on the same subnet and pointing your device to it for DNS breaks all kinds of stuff on the Gold.

  Maybe someone else has a better workaround Im not aware of but thats how mine is set up.

  Yes for Gold as a router, it makes sense, but if you review the instructions for Pi-Hole on Blue, they mention it slightly differently.  I'm assuming Pi-Hole doesn't do the "safe search" stuff, etc. like Firewalla can do under Family Protect.
