Firewalla Blue vs Gold - Speed and FingBox

I have both the blue and the gold Firewalla and a 1Gbps line.

The blue version _will_ limit your through-put, and depending on your internal setup, it can be by a lot. With single segment setup probably around 400-500Mbps, if it's segmented, because the blue box is not an "inline" box, by more. I would see 270Mbps on a segment (switch port, not VLAN, btw) the blue box was not on.

The gold keeps up with the 1Gbps without any issues. Running 'top' on the box shows very low stress, and all segments are running at full speed (as expected with an inline router).

I have ~50 devices on my network and tend to use ~1.2TB/month according to my ISP. 3 kids and I on video conf pretty much all day, with no hiccups or slow streams, even if I hammer it with some heavy downloads simultaneously.

I would not use Simple Mode for a 1Gbps line, you won't achieve the performance. Not sure with the Gold box in Simple mode, but then again, what would be the point when it supports 'inline' mode :)

Im only looking for the unlimited features of the Blue without throughput suffering, this is why considering the Gold in simple mode. Not looking for router, segmentation or inline FW.  A primary gap I want to fill is logging of endpoints activity and the other features are simply extras to compliment existing controls.  If I didnt have the FIngbox and other controls in place I would go inline.
