In the past week, I have started getting Security Activity alerts "Device Desktop-xxxx scanned ports of yyyy"  The yyyy happens to be the wifi router provided by broadband internet provider.  The Device is usually one of my two desktops.  I have gotten 3 such alerts in the last week.  How do I decide what action to take?

  Are you running any software on those desktops that may do some type of discovery?    The port scan's are something that the desktop may send some probs to check for a few ports are open.

  I see these alerts every few days, as well. It turns out that the Avast antivirus has a module that scans for malicious software behind open ports on the devices on the LAN. It also scans for devices added to the LAN and identifies open ports on those devices.

  It may be something like this that is causing your alerts.

  I do have AVG antivirus and internet security installed on these, so its possible that this activity is from that.  Thanks for the responses.
