Gold can't be found
Hi, My Gold arrived today. I've attached it to my comms wall, connected it to my router, and powered it up. I did a quick scan of my LAN and could see it's been allocated 192.168.1.58. I then ran the app on my phone to try to pair with it, but the app times out after 5 minutes unable to find it. Looking at the status webpage in 192.168.1.58 gives the status page. That shows the following:

As such, it can't be activated, and is a pretty expensive ornament. The activation dongle is firmly in. I disabled pihole on my Pi, but it's made no difference. What might I have missed?

Can you please check following
1. the app (ios or android) you are using is up to date.
2. the app should have permissions to Bluetooth, if not, please turn them on.
3. when you are pairing, you will need to be physically close to the gold unit
4. there is no metal or anything like it blocking the red USB dongle

1. I downloaded the Android app from Google Play this morning, dated 1 July 2020.
2. Neither the app nor Android OS prompted me for Bluetooth permissions, only for location.
3. I stood 2ft away from the unit.
4. Only air exists between my phone and the Bluetooth dongle.If it helps, there's one solid red Led lit on the WAN port I have the ethernet cable plugged into, and one blinking amber Led.

Did you deny the "location" prompt? If you did, can you please turn it on and pair it again. I think Android (some of them) Bluetooth and location are tied together.

First screen -> top right icon -> scroll down to "Show Logs" -> send the log to help@firewalla.com

The "IP address: error" is a display bug, which healthy systems may also display. We will fix that in a future release.
Your error may be related to Bluetooth either on the Firewalla or the Android phone side. Here is the workaround to bypass the bug and pair Gold without Bluetooth, if it works, then we may need your help to give us a temporarily support access to do a quick hardware diagnostics remotely.
1. Find another ethernet cable, connect one end to either port 1 or 2 or 3 of the Gold, connect the other end to a device having an ethernet port, such as PC/Mac. This is to activate the LAN ports on Gold, the key to workaround IP address error.
2. Wait for 30 seconds
3. Visit the web page http://192.168.1.58 again, it should show a QR code instead of "IP Address Error"
4. Open Firewalla app, tap top-left camera, scan the QR code on the screen, then scan the QR code on the bottom of Gold.
5. Waiting for pairing to succeed and set it up like usual.
Here is the topology, the key is to add the ethernet cable highlighted in orange.

I took a look at the Bluetooth settings on my phone, and my phone can see the dongle, tries to pair, but doesn't prompt for a passcode, so doesn't pair within Android.
Ive tried Melvin's suggestion of using a 2nd ethernet cable which I plugged into my Pi to display the QR code from the Web interface. I've scanned that, and I now see New Firewalla. If I click on it, it brings up the Scan QR Code screen. Tapping Scan turns on the scan function for 1 second before it takes me back to the Scan QR Code screen. As such, I can't scan the QR code on the Gold. When it does stay on the scan function with the camera view, when I do scan the code, it simply takes me back to the Scan QR code screen with the QR code evidently unread.
I then tried entering what I think is its serial number, but the app tells me it's invalid.
GPS is turned on.
