Blocking entire /16 range
Hello,
I have been tinkering with blocking facetime after a certain time at night for my kids. I can see that there are certain ports that need to be blocked such as 5223, but this block along with a few other high end tcp ports did not seem to block anything.
So I decided I was going to implement a block on the entire IP range that I see being used for the facetime chatter.
Now I have a different issue. When I see the ipad connecting to an external ip adderess on those ports (let's say 17.173.18.10) if I block this address, in the network flow I can see that it has a strike through it.
But...ill be here forever blocking individual ip addresses.
So I try to block the entire range by putting in 172.173.0.0/16 in the ip range block section.
But again, this not only does not seem to do anything but I also do not see a line through the 172.173.18.10 address, like it is not blocked despite being in that blocked range.
Does it block but just not have the coding to put the strike through the affected ip addresses? I'm not seeing it stop my facetime test calls getting through.
Appreciate any advice. Just looking to allow Netflix/Prime after a certain time and block gaming and facetime. Gaming blocking works swell...now I just need the video call blocking!
